Commission Info

Terms of Service

Please thoroughly read the following Terms of Service before commissioning work.

Terms are subject to change, but new terms do not retroactively apply to old commissions.

You (the client/commissioner) are responsible for familiarizing yourself with the terms before commissioning a work. If you are unclear about any of the terms, please clarify before commissioning.

1. General

  1. By ordering a commission (work), you agree to the outlined terms below, and are required to adhere to them.
  2. I (the Author) guarantee final quality equivalent to previous and personal works.
  3. The Author reserves the right to decline a commission for any reason, specified or unspecified, including, but not limited to, the Will Not Write and Blacklistable Offenses sections.
  4. The client must be 18 years or older.

2. Commission Information

  1. All Commission inquiries are welcome, and I am happy to answer any questions asked, unless otherwise stated.
  2. References are required for the commission, and may be submitted through normal communication channels. References include, but are not limited to:
    • Written and/or visual description of characters and topics.
    • Written ideas for the work.
    • Previous works featuring the commissioner's content, with creator's permission.
    • Other works as inspiration, with the understanding that the finished work will not be a replica with the client's content inserted.
  3. The client is responsible for seeking and receiving permission to include other parties' intellectual property as part of their commission.
  4. Commissioned work is typically, though not necessarily, done in the order that it was commissioned. The author reserves the right to alternate between commissioned works and personal works as they see fit for creativity and efficiency.
  5. The author may choose to pause a commission at any time, and will communicate any and all delays in work.

3. Changes and Alterations

  1. Submitted references must be clear and verified by the client. Any errors with reference material will be corrected at no additional cost. Perceived errors made due to unclear or incomplete references will be corrected, and may carry an additional fee. The author will attempt to clarify anything they find unclear, however, work will not be held up due to lengthy delays in communication (greater than 24 hours) with the client.
  2. Commission details must be confirmed before work begins. Any changes made to the content or concept of a commission after work has begun will require an additional fee to compensate for work already completed.
  3. Unless otherwise stated, the client will receive WIP (work-in-progress) updates regarding their commission, as well as a final look after it has been completed. The client will be given time (at least 24 hours) to review and approve each update. Once approved, work will resume as my schedule allows. If longer than the allotted time has passed, I reserve the right to resume work as if it had been approved.
    1. Any changes to an approved portion of the work may carry an additional fee.

4. Pricing & Payment Information

  1. Payment is not required until a commission has been defined and accepted.
  2. A minimum of 50% of the total commission price or $15, whichever is higher, is required up front before work begins. Regardless of how in depth a commission has been discussed, it is not considered ordered until a payment has been made.
  3. Pricing is determined by the most recent pricing schedule. Finding and following an outdated pricing schedule does not entitle the client to outdated prices, nor does an incorrect quote entitle the client to more work than was paid for.
    1. If an incorrect quote has been given and realized before work has completed, it will be explained, and the client has the option of paying the price difference to compensate for the desired amount of work, or finding a place to stop that leaves the client satisfied without requiring additional payment.
    2. The current pricing schedule is as follows:
      • All works are priced at $0.03/word (e.g. a 500-word work is priced at $15).
      • All work comes with a buffer of 50 words above and belove the estimated and quoted word count.
  4. If a work goes beyond the original quoted length and price, it will be communicated, and the client has the option of paying an amendment to the original quote for the desired amount of work or finding a place to stop that leaves the client satisfied without requiring additional payment.
  5. Pricing is shown/quoted in USD and payment should be submitted in USD.
  6. Payment is done via invoice alone.

5. Deadline Policy

  1. Deadlines can be requested and agreed upon if the client wishes.
    1. If a deadline feels implausible or impossible, it will be communicated and the client may request a longer deadline or withdraw the commission.
    2. Any deadlines must be agreed upon before a commission is placed, and the author reserves the right to decline any deadline after a commission has been placed.
    3. The author reserves the right to decline a deadline for any reason.
  2. A deadline must be necessitated by good reason (e.g. gift, business, life events, etc.) and will only be considered under such cricumstances.
    • Impatience is not and will not be considered a good reason.
  3. Once a deadline has been agreed upon, the author will make every attempt to meet it. However, WIP approval by the client is still appreciated. Clients may be asked whether meeting the deadline or giving approval is more important, in the event one must be chosen over the other.

6. Refund Policy

  1. Refunds will only be considered if the client wishes to abandon the commission, if the author feels they cannot finish the work for any reason, or in the event the client is in extreme financial emergency.
  2. If the client wishes to abandon the commission, after it has started, the client will receive a refund of the value of the remainder between the payment and the work completed, with regard to the minimum compensation of the commission (e.g. a 2000-word commission quoted at $60, with 300 words completed, will be refunded $30).
    • If the client wishes, the remainder may instead be retained by the author as credit for a future commission.
  3. If the author feels they cannot finish the work for any reason, the reason will be communicated, and the client will receive a refund of the value of the remainder between the payment and the work completed, with regard to the minimum compensation of the commission (e.g a 3000-word commission quoted at $90 with 2000 words completed, will be refunded $30).
  4. In extreme financial emergency, and only in extreme financial emergency, the client will be refunded the difference between any payment and the work completed, without regard for minimum compensation.
  5. Commissions cancelled because of a violation of sections 9 and 10 will not be refunded in any capacity.
  6. Abuse of the refund policy may see future request denied, or the client blacklisted.

7. Communication

  1. Communication regarding a commission is currently accepted through either social media link available on this site, or on Discord, if preferred (supplied upon request).
  2. Do not rely on direct messages to save your reference material. Though I may save them myself for the duration of the work, this is not guaranteed, nor is your reference material staying uncorrupted on account-based platforms.
  3. WIP updates will first be submitted to the original method of contact, using the email provided for invoicing as a backup.
  4. Final products will be delivered via Dropbox link in the form of a text document.

8. Rights, Copyright, & Permissions

  1. All rights to finished works belong to the author.
  2. All rights to the intellectual property within a work remain solely with their respective owners.
  3. The author reserves the right to post finished works as they see fit, as well as not posting a finished work without explanation. All intellectual property will be credited with a post unless requested to remain private.
  4. The client may use the finished work for personal uses only. Commissioned work may not be used for any commercial function without permission, and intent to use it for such should be disclosed prior to commissioning.
    1. The author reserves the right to charge an additional fee, require a percentage of sales, or outright deny a client's request to use commissioned work in a commercial capacity
  5. The content of commissioned works may not be changed or edited in any way. The author must be credited in any postings of the work, and clients are not allowed to copy, recreate, or otherwise take credit for the work.
  6. The client may post a finished commission themself with credit, and format the finished work to their liking (e.g. fonts, paragraph styles and arrangement, etc.).
  7. If a client wishes for a commission to remain private (e.g. work not used in author's portfolio, client identity remains private, withheld from author's social networks or public sites, etc.), this intent must be made clear before commissioning and carries a 15% privacy fee, and clients must choose a date for the work to be made public.
    1. If the client breaks the privacy agreement by posting any portion of the work to public sites before the agreed-upon date, the privacy agreement is effectively terminated without notice or refund.
    2. Broken privacy agreements may see future requests denied, or future commissions outright rejected.

9. Will Not Write

    • Sexual content including, but not limited to:
      • Sexual intercourse
